PARENT EDUCATION
The Reaching Families
Facing Autism (RFFA) program
is a parent education program
for families of children ages
2-11 years who have been
diagnosed with an Autism
Spectrum Disorder.
Families in the RFFA
program will receive
-
an
informal assessment of
parenting challenges and
skills conducted by Tisha
Gonzalez, Autism
Specialist.
-
Frances
Ramirez, In-Home parent
trainer will then provide
weekly in-home parent
training and education
sessions (up to15 one hour
sessions).
The RFFA program consists
of three modules that the
home trainer and parent will
review according to the
individualized education plan.
-
Module
1 is used to increase
knowledge of autism and help
parents identify their
child’s areas of strengths
and emerging strengths.
-
Module
2 is used to identify
the communicative intent
behind their child’s
behavior.
-
Module
3 teaches parents how to
best set up their child’s
environment to learn new
skills.
Families in the RFFA
program also have access to any
and all ABC services such as
counseling, Family Friends, and
case management.
The RFFA program does not
interfere with any existing
program or therapy, nor does it
duplicate services that the
family is currently receiving.
